Marsha's side-note: After re-reading this very short (too short) article about traveling in London, I think it's a very....lazy attempt at educating potential visitors to London but then again, there are some points that she made that I can't claim or help with. So, here it is anyway.

London is one of the greatest cities in the world, however it is also one of the most expensive! But there are ways to enjoy London on a budget.

Getting around London on a budget:

First things first, make sure you get an Oyster card. It can save you a lot of money especially since London transit is so pricey. The Oyster card can be used for pay as you go or travelcard / bus pass; you can use it for the bus, Tube, trams, DLR, London Overground and some National Rail services in London.

But before you head underground, keep in mind that London is surprisingly walkable; once you learn to not rely so much on the tube, you may even find that getting from one place to another is faster above ground!

The great thing about exploring London on foot is that you will likely come across hidden history, unexpected and spectacular sights, secret hideaway gardens and significant landmarks.

Seeing great shows and musicals in London on a budget:

The London West End is where you'll find loads of fantastic musicals and plays to suit every taste. However tickets can be very expensive, with stall seats costing up to £60. Yikes! You should never have to pay that much for tickets, in fact you can get tickets for up to a third of the price!

If you are in London on a budget, you should check out TKTS, the half price ticket booth in Leicester Square. Also you may be able to get day seats from the theatre directly. Students and seniors can get discount tickets for around £15 - £20 for top seats.

These are only a few of the ways you can save money when you are in London on a budget.
