What Makes A Blog Interesting To Read

Many people have caught on and caught up with the blog business….it’s great! Not because it means more business for people like me or better opportunities for other freelance writers, but it’s because they FINALLY see that it’s one of the best ways to market oneself on the internet.

So! Now that you have a business blog…what are you going to do with it? And how on earth are you to keep people from coming in and never coming back in again. You see, the purpose of keeping a business blog is to KEEP your readers interested so that they come back for more. Some of the popular bloggers can tell you that the only reason why their blog is popular is because of REGULAR readers.

All in all, let’s just say that in order for you to have a successful blog, you need to make it fun to read and interesting to the readers…time and time again. It’s really not as hard as you think it is. Here are some examples.

Interactivity, get your blog readers to ANTICIPATE and then PARTICIPATE
The beauty of Web 2.0 and blogs is that they’re capable of wonderful things, of capturing information, of spreading a message or collecting feedback. Blogs are useful in trying to get readers to participate or provide you with a comment. Ask them instead of informing them. Get them involved in the topic and let them know that what they think count for something.

Blog about everyday topics that your readers can RELATE TO
How many common people like you and me ever go into a nuclear development website that is filled with information how to find nukes, develop nukes or….well, yeah, how many of us will find such a topic interesting? OK, now let’s compare that with this…how many people amongst us read about celebrity gossip or parenting…or running a business?

There you go. You’ve got your answer. You need to keep the blog post consistent and relevant to the main agenda of the blog and it should be about things that everyday people like you and me can relate to. Or perhaps, if the blog is about knitting, it should be interesting to people who are into knitting.

Use a very personal writing style in your blog
Remember one thing….you’re not writing a novel. Short, sweet, filled with links and lots of information and written in a very personal style is the way to go. When you try too hard to be lyrical with your words unless this is what you intend for it to be.

Famous bloggers know that videos, pictures, songs, links, poles, jokes, suggestions work!
Find relevant pictures from the internet or snap your own pictures and post it together with your blog. It makes for a more interesting post. Most famous bloggers know this. You can only keep the attention of the readers for so long with words, you see. Some people may beg to differ and they’re not wrong…but it depends on what kind of readers we’re talking about. However, it’s always a little bit more interesting if there were pictures, videos, songs to keep the readers from clicking away.

With youtube, you can videos on just about ANYTHING on this planet (I believe), therefore, surf around a little and give the readers something to comment about.

Polls are also great because people like to know where they stand about their own personal opinion regarding the topic that you’ve written about. It’s always interesting to know if you’re right there with the majority or with the minority. Even if they don’t participate in the poll, at the very lease, they know what most people think.

There you go….the many different ways to make your blog a more interesting one. A blog that people will bookmark and come back for more…because without the readers, what’s the point of the blog.
