Trying To Penetrate The New Zealand Business Market With My Professional Writing Services

As a freelance writer, New Zealand is one of those countries that I’ve never touched. Not once. In the ten odd years that I’ve been writing freelance, New Zealand clients are elusive. I’ve tried sending emails to companies in New Zealand, telling them all about the virtues of hiring me as their freelance writer….offering them my professional writing services NZ-style but to no avail. This left me thinking, is it because there is no demand for professional writing services in NZ?
Perhaps it’s the culture of NZ people to not outsource or hire freelance writers; New Zealand…are they a land without internet access? I don’t suppose so. I have to admit that I am very curious about the NZ culture….and would like to find out how my freelance writing services can fit into the New Zealand business culture. If you have the answer, please let me have it because it eludes me up until this very moment.
Businesses in NZ continue to grow so I am quite sure there is a demand for professional writing services NZ. But I am wondering how many New Zealand companies are willing to find a freelance writer NOT BASED in New Zealand. With the development of technology and the widespread use of the Internet everywhere else in the world, are New Zealand being left behind? Or does it have anything to do with the Maori and Pakeha culture that I so admire. I do a lot of research into the NZ culture as I have to offer my professional writing services to them – and it intrigues me!
Did YOU know that it is in the NZ culture that they are a little anti-intellectual? Check that up in Wikipedia.org or any other websites on the Internet and read up on it if you’re curious.
I strongly believe that New Zealand business are in need of online professional writing services and are just as connected via the internet as any other countries around it. Recently, I spoke to someone who is a native New Zealander and he told me that there is a need for professional writing services like mine; just that, people and business owners over there in NZ are not as open and communicative over the Internet. However, we concluded by saying that New Zealand is like a ripe apple, ready to be picked. So, is it safe for me to say that NOW is the right time to enter the market and offer my professional writing services NZ style.
My friend reminded me, however, that it’s important for professional writing services provider to understand the cultural differences New Zealand and other countries, like the US, Australia or the UK. If you’re looking for a freelance writing career in NZ (like me), it’s a fact that you can be based anywhere in the world and it doesn’t matter. The most important thing is to remember to adapt to the NZ style of doing business and communication (you do NOT have to learn how to speak their native language, thank goodness for that).
Most importantly, a freelance professional writing service provider like me would have to learn how to have genuine respect for what the New Zealanders believe in.
